Chitika eMiniMalls experiment

Posted on Wednesday 19 April 2006

A week ago I implemented Chitika eMiniMalls on phuba.com to compare the revenue generated from them to the revenue from google adsense.? Chitika originally denied me the opportunity to put the eMinimalls up, I guess because i dont have enough content that relates to? product merchandising, i.e., product reviews, product-centric discussions etc.

However I shot a? quick email back to them explaining that I simply wanted to test thier product on my site before implementing it on the fashion and style site - fashionstylist.com.au.? fashionstylist.com.au is obviously a lot more suited to thier product than phuba.com and they got back to me directly with details of how to set it up.

And the results?

? Well, its a bit hard to say.? I have hardly had a click through unfortunately compared to the 3-6% click through rate I get with adsense.? This could be attributed to a number of factors however - position of the ad, the target market of my site (visitors to phuba.com are generally very tech-savvy and not necessarily swayed by pretty pictures or bargains).? I am believer however - the ads look good, and they are useful for your users - especially if you fit the criteria of having content that relates to? product merchandising, i.e., product reviews, product-centric discussions etc. as stated above.

You can see one example over to the left and here is another of the banner size.
