Something for nothing from Jumba Interactive Group?

Posted on Monday 6 February 2006

Is it possible to get something for nothing?? I will soon know.? I have set up a non-business site for a friend at www.whatmewasted.com. ? I paid about $12 for the domain name from yahoo.com and the whole site was up and running within 2 days (and found on google within 3, which surprised me).? Most of the time was spent waiting for domain name redelegation as I estimate that I only devoted about 2 hours of total work to build the thing. A big thanks to Jumba Interactive Group, I signed up for the free hosting plan.? The quick bit of support I needed was handled very professionally and efficiently and the hosting was active within minutes of sign up – I highly recommend them so far.
Wow, open source – what a time saver.? Wordpress was first to go on for content management, then a theme from c3ro which involved a very quick bit of ‘photoshopping’ – yes, I know, the logo needs some work.? Next came google analytics for tracking and soon I will probably add some ad tags – if the site gets any visitors.? If you are interested in the mad thoughts of a sane man go and have a look? - www.whatmewasted.com

So, in summary,? you can have? your own? website with? a sense of your? own style, full Content Management and tracking and a revenue stream from? google for $12 in the space of 2 days - how? wonderful is this internet thing then ey?

Of course, im happy to help anyone use shortcuts to great looking websites, though there may be a small fee involved for the service.

Jumba was heavily promoted at whirlpool for their free offer but recently they suddenly pulled the plug and required everyone with a free site to “upgrade” or leave. I wasn’t impressed especially as I hadnt found their support etc all that great but had tolerated it due to the - well - free thing. Anyway, seemed a bit of a dodgy con job to me so I packed up my simple non-profit site and moved elsewhere and paid someone more honest for my hosting service. I too have recently discovered nearlyfreespeech hosting and I might move over to them.
