It’s a bit off the topic for this website but some times an online service comes along that just really bowls you over. Pandora is one of those services. They describe themselves as:
? ‘a music discovery service designed to help you find and enjoy music that you’ll love. It’s powered by the Music Genome Project, the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken. Just tell us one of your favorite songs or artists and we’ll launch a streaming station to explore that part of the music universe.’
Its really quite a musical education experience, you select an artist that you like, the service then plays one song by that artist, and then plays songs for as long as you wish to stream that have similar musical qualities. You are not necessarily going to like the songs that are played, but Ive had it on for good five or six hours and 90% of the songs played i really enjoyed. Some of the bands seem to come entirely out of left field however, because quite often you will get something off a B side that is entirely different to everything else that the band plays.
