Thanks to Mike for the SEO tips he has sent through via comments on my How long does it take to get FULLY indexed with google? article. Ill post them again here –
- Make sure title has some super keywords in it regarding what you are writing about such as Search Engine Optimisation Secrets or some other similar
- Adsense in my testing didnt bother to look at the content of each post much to determine what to advertise, it just seemed to look at the title of the post, so same deal make sure you have a title that is keyword rich and then assuming you are looking for adsense revenue from SEO ads this should flow.
I was initially dubious about his statements about Adsense but a quick look at a page such as this one – A couple of links shows that he is right, at least on the surface as im sure many other factors also come into play. The A couple of links page has ‘links’ in the title and doesn’t serve any adsense ads, most likely because google hasn’t even bothered to index the page. Why hasn’t google indexed the page? Because any page with ‘links’ in the title is probably some sort of link exchange SEO spam page.
Mike has a blog based on Search Engine Optimisation, amongst other things at Mike’s Blog for Entrepeneurs and his company is Networking and Internet Specialists Nicholls-Price.
Hi Bevan
Thanks for acknowledging my comments. Here is one or two others that I picked up.
1. Get listed in DMOZ
2. Get listed by Alexa
Both of these seem to give sites a boost due to many of the search engines using the DMOZ directory as a base index to crawl and whilst Im not sure how much attention they pay to Alexa, it is a high ranking site that in effect links to you, but also keeps a statistical patten of users visiting you, it also uses DMOZ content to try to give you related (usually geographicly or industry) sites that users visiting your site have also visited.
Both of these will give you a boost to your site ranking and visibility
Regards
Mike
